The winners of the 37th Golden Rooster Awards were revealed Saturday evening during a grand ceremony in Xiamen, Fujian Province. A total of 21 prestigious awards were presented, celebrating outstanding achievements in Chinese cinema.

Top Honors for Feature Films and Performances

The best feature film award went to “Article 20,” a compelling story about prosecutors and ordinary citizens working together to uphold social justice. Lei Jiayin earned the best actor award for his powerful performance in the film.

Li Gengxi won best actress for her role in “Viva La Vida,” a heartwarming tale of friendship and resilience between a young woman awaiting a kidney transplant and a young man battling brain disease.

Directing and Documentary Excellence

Renowned director Chen Kaige received the best director award for “The Volunteers: To the War,” the first installment of a war trilogy that explores the courage and sacrifices of those involved in pivotal historical conflicts.

The best documentary award was given to “The Sinking of the Lisbon Maru,” a poignant film detailing the heroic rescue of British prisoners of war by Chinese fishermen during World War II.

Legacy of the Golden Rooster Awards

Established in 1981, the Golden Rooster Awards remain one of China’s most prestigious national film events. Organized by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the China Film Association, the awards continue to honor excellence in filmmaking and storytelling.
