BEIJING, July 9 (WSH) — Global City Connect (GCC) has appointed Ms. Park EunJeong (박은정), President of the Korea-China Cultural Exchange Association, as Chair of the GCC South Korea City Hub, marking a significant step in strengthening China–Republic of Korea cooperation in culture, tourism, business, education, and city-to-city partnerships.
The appointment marks the official launch of the comprehensive development of the GCC South Korea City Hub and further expands GCC’s international City Hub network across Northeast Asia. The new platform is designed to facilitate practical cooperation among local governments, cultural and tourism organizations, universities, enterprises, and civil society organizations in both countries.
Promoting Practical Cooperation
GCC said the South Korea City Hub will serve as an open platform connecting cities, industries, and international resources while promoting people-to-people exchanges and sustainable regional cooperation.
The organization believes that cities play an increasingly important role in advancing international collaboration through practical projects, cultural exchange, investment, innovation, and economic development.
Experienced Leader in China–Republic of Korea Relations
Ms. Park has devoted many years to promoting friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of China and the Republic of Korea. As President of the Korea-China Cultural Exchange Association, she has actively advanced cooperation in culture, tourism, trade and investment, education, youth exchange, and international business.
In addition to leading the Korea-China Cultural Exchange Association, Ms. Park serves as Chief Executive Officer of K-Culture Global Co., Ltd. and President of the Korea Hubei Chamber of Commerce. She previously served as an advisor to the National Unification Advisory Council of the Republic of Korea and has participated extensively in international exchange and public diplomacy initiatives.
Under her leadership, K-Culture Global Co., Ltd. has become an official member of the Korea Tourism Association, Seoul Tourism Association, Korea International Trade Association, Korea MICE Association, and the Korea Women Entrepreneurs Association. The company has also received official certification as a women-owned enterprise and a certified small and medium-sized enterprise in Korea.
Expanding Cooperation in Emerging Industries
In recent years, Ms. Park has promoted cooperation between China and the Republic of Korea in cultural tourism, digital economy, artificial intelligence, robotics, international exhibitions and conferences (MICE), and other emerging industries. She has also supported Chinese companies expanding into the Korean market while encouraging Korean enterprises to strengthen cooperation with China.
GCC said her extensive international experience and cross-sector networks will help create new opportunities for cooperation in cultural tourism, city branding, arts education, youth exchange, performing arts, creative industries, digital culture, artificial intelligence, robotics, and international business.
Five Strategic Priorities
According to GCC, the South Korea City Hub will focus on five strategic priorities:
- Strengthening partnerships between cities and local governments in China and the Republic of Korea;
- Expanding cooperation in cultural tourism through festivals, exhibitions, tourism promotion, city branding, and international MICE events;
- Promoting collaboration in creative industries, digital culture, artificial intelligence, robotics, film, performing arts, and design;
- Building international business platforms to facilitate investment, trade, industrial cooperation, brand globalization, and cross-border resource matching; and
- Encouraging youth exchanges, educational cooperation, talent development, and innovation partnerships to support long-term friendship and regional development.
Building an International Cooperation Platform
GCC said the establishment of the South Korea City Hub will further strengthen its presence in Northeast Asia while leveraging the extensive resources and experience accumulated by the Korea-China Cultural Exchange Association and the Korea Hubei Chamber of Commerce.
Ms. Park said the South Korea City Hub will uphold the principles of openness, cooperation, and mutual benefit, actively integrating resources from both countries to promote closer cooperation among local governments, businesses, universities, research institutions, and social organizations.
She added that the Hub will also strengthen collaboration with GCC City Hubs around the world, encouraging resource sharing, mutual learning, cultural exchange, tourism cooperation, and city partnerships to build a more inclusive and mutually beneficial international cooperation network.
