LOS ANGELES, June 1 (WSH) — Global City Connect (GCC), an international platform dedicated to connecting cities, businesses, universities, and innovation resources through global cooperation networks, officially announced the establishment of its Los Angeles City Hub on June 1, appointing noted artificial intelligence expert, creative technology scholar, and entrepreneur Dr. Ajay Kapur as Chairman.
The establishment of the Los Angeles City Hub marks GCC’s expansion into one of the world’s leading innovation centers on the U.S. West Coast and creates a new platform for international cooperation in technology innovation, education, creative industries, and global resource connectivity.
Dr. Kapur currently serves as Associate Provost for Creative Technologies at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), where he is also the founding director of the Creative Computing Program. He additionally serves as a Visiting Professor of Interactive Media Arts at NYU Shanghai.
A successful entrepreneur and innovator, Dr. Kapur is the Founder and CEO of KarmetiK, an organization dedicated to advancing artificial intelligence, digital innovation, education technology, and creative industries. He has earned broad recognition across academia, technology, and entrepreneurial communities worldwide.
Dr. Kapur holds a degree in Engineering and Computer Science from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Victoria in Canada. His research spans computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, psychology, music technology, and artificial intelligence. He holds more than 20 international patents and has published over 200 academic papers.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kapur has contributed to major international projects involving the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), REDCAT at Walt Disney Concert Hall, and the Winter Olympic Games, earning recognition for his pioneering work at the intersection of technology and the arts.
