Oriental Healing Aesthetics Step onto the Global Stage
NEW YORK, May 26 (WSH) — Chinese original design drew significant international attention at the 2026 NYCxDESIGN Festival, which recently opened in Manhattan’s Financial District, bringing together leading global brands, design institutions, artists and industry professionals from around the world.
Among the highlights of this year’s festival was the New York debut of “Ruhua Mountains and Seas,” a solo art and design exhibition by Jia Wei KK, founder and chairman of LKK Innovation Design Group, artist and designer. The exhibition quickly became one of the most talked-about Chinese showcases during the international design event.

The exhibition marks the first large-scale presentation of oriental healing aesthetics in the United States. Centered on the themes of “artistic healing, design implementation and oriental culture going global,” the showcase integrates art installations with industrial design products, presenting the humanistic warmth and technological innovation of Chinese original design to an international audience.

The exhibition features dozens of Jia Wei KK’s personal artworks alongside more than 30 representative products from LKK Innovation Design Group, spanning intelligent AIoT, home appliances, smart consumer electronics, new energy, cultural creativity and healthcare sectors. Industry observers noted that the exhibition reflects the evolution of Chinese design from manufacturing-oriented production toward cultural expression and value creation.
Several Chinese-designed products attracted strong interest from international visitors and industry experts.

Among them, the FancyPress capsule coffee maker stood out for its futuristic appearance, intelligent user interaction and convenient functionality. The product has previously received major international honors including the MUSE Design Gold Award and the Red Dot Design Award. Equipped with features such as one-touch coffee preparation, adjustable cup holders and a metallic rotary interface, the product was praised for combining technology with lifestyle aesthetics.

Another widely discussed exhibit, the “Four-Season Gaiwan,” integrates traditional Chinese tea culture with contemporary design language. Inspired by the imagery of “spring blossoms, summer breeze, autumn moon and winter snow,” the work conveys emotional connections between humans, nature and inner reflection through oriental artistic philosophy. Several international designers described it as “a modern lifestyle artwork infused with Eastern philosophy.”
Other exhibits, including the DingTalk A1 AI voice recorder, the RITKIT Gradational Musician Kit and the AI-powered Riffmate GT01 smart guitar, also drew considerable attention from designers and technology companies. Observers said the exhibition demonstrated how Chinese design is increasingly moving toward the integration of technology, culture and emotional experience.

During the event, Jia Wei KK also shared his views on Chinese design and oriental aesthetics. He emphasized that truly outstanding design should not only solve functional problems, but also carry emotional value, artistic expression and spiritual resonance.

“Useful things are limited, but useless things are infinite,” Jia Wei said during his presentation. He noted that in an era dominated by rapidly evolving artificial intelligence and algorithms, humanity’s most valuable qualities remain perception, empathy and the ability to discover beauty in everyday life. “Only by preserving human warmth can design truly move the world,” he said.

International visitors attending the exhibition said Chinese design has been rapidly reshaping global perceptions in recent years. While China was once primarily associated with manufacturing capability, many now see Chinese original design emerging as a new system combining technological innovation, commercial logic and cultural expression.

Industry analysts said the Chinese exhibitions at NYCxDESIGN 2026 not only showcased the innovation capabilities of Chinese enterprises, but also highlighted how oriental aesthetics are gradually entering mainstream international design discourse. As Chinese original brands continue expanding their global competitiveness, Chinese design is expected to play a more prominent role in the international high-end consumer, cultural and technology markets.

LKK Innovation Design Group, one of China’s leading innovation design firms, has long focused on intelligent technology, cultural creativity, healthcare and new energy sectors, winning more than 600 international design awards. Its appearance at NYCxDESIGN 2026 is widely viewed as another important step in the global rise of Chinese design.
