BEIJING, April 3  (WSH) –Global City Connect (GCC), a global platform connecting cities, enterprises, and international partners to deliver practical development projects, has appointed Dr. Djibril Diallo as Chairman of GCC Africa City Hubs, reinforcing its commitment to advancing cooperation, investment, and sustainable development across the continent.

A Leader Bridging the United Nations and Africa’s Development Agenda

Dr. Diallo brings more than 35 years of experience within the United Nations system and international development. He is President and CEO of the African Renaissance and Diaspora Network (ARDN), engaging the 250 million people of African descent worldwide in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A former Spokesperson for the President of the United Nations General Assembly, he has held senior roles including:

– Regional Director for West and Central Africa, UNAIDS

– Director of Communications, UNDP

– Director, UN Office of Sport for Development and Peace (New York)

Through ARDN, he works closely with United Nations agencies, governments, civil society, and the private sector across Africa, in coordination with Resident Coordinators and UN Country Teams, to support national priorities and accelerate SDG implementation.

Why This Role Matters Now

Africa is entering a defining decade:

– By 2050, one in four people globally will be African

– It has the youngest population in the world

– Urban populations will double by 2040

– The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is creating a single market of over 1.3 billion people

As Chairman of GCC Africa City Hubs, Dr. Diallo will guide a network designed to connect African cities with global partners, investment, and innovation.
